Worst Movies Ever: Transformers 2

One of the worst movies I ever rented. 1 star IMDB.

I liked the first one enough. I had low expectations for a movie based on toys. I can enjoy a decent non-serious popcorn action flick. But this sequel goes out of it's way to annoy the hell out of you.

To start, there are a lot of unlikable characters in this. Sam's mother (pot brownies), the twin Autobots (great stereotypes), Jon Turturro's (and his naked ass) Sam's room mate (his only purpose was to scream and whine) and the suit Galloway(unreasonable dick).

Then there's the robots. Good luck telling them apart aside from the obvious. They added a lot but when the fighting happens, it's just a big pile of explosions. Which is fine, I dig that.

I can put up with a ridiculous story and a bunch of Bay action. But I cannot forgive all of this unfunny comedy. Dogs humping, robots humping, it's even worse then the first movie.

Not even Megan Fox constantly running in slow motion could save this. What makes this movie go from "not good" to "terrible piece of shit" was the length of the movie-2 hours and 27 minutes.

In conclusion, fuck Transformers 2, fuck it up it's stupid metal ass.

Uncharted 2

Hands down, game of the year. For PS3. I'll give overall to Modern Warfare 2. But it's close.

It's like a playable action blu ray movie. Nice selection of guns and weapons, and gives you the choice of playing run-and-gun or with stealth elements.

The cast returns for the sequel, previous players will dig seeing/hearing them again. New players will dig it too, you don't HAVE to play the first to enjoy the sequel. But you can probably get it for cheap, it's also pretty good.

Multiplayer was added, and has been pretty fun. Some good objective based games, and standard death match. I liked Plunder best. The only reason I stopped playing is MW2 came out, which crushes everything multiplayer.

9/10 It's a great one.

Modern Warfare 2 releases today!

The sequel to one of my favorite games of all times has came back after a few years. Was it worth the wait?

Of course it is! Infinity Ward wouldn't slip up on the success of the first. Honestly I've only played about 40 minutes of Campaign, maybe an hour of multiplayer. I don't use the word "EPIC" often, but it really has been. New weapons, story and multiplayer options, it's all high quality work put into this game.

Ill post my final thoughts later. Not that my review would matter, you already have this game.

Dead Space Xbox 360

Awesome game. This game does everything well, great atmosphere, sound, challenge, graphics and controls. The story is decent, but nothing ground breaking. Basically kill all creatures that attack you. In space!

Enemies will have different strategies, tactics and powers. You have an a selection of upgradeable weapons and ammo. Everything else you will need to find or purchase from stores.

Very few games scare the hell out of you. I never felt comfortable playing, there was always caution around every corner. Had to be careful because you can't just run and gun like some shooters. It's a good change.

Anyway, it's one of the better games you can pick up most places for around $20. Just get it.

1 Month Prepaid Cell Service

I had been on AT&T for at least two years. No problems for the most part. But it was getting too expensive, I mean I don't need a ton of minutes. Paying $60 plus seems like a lot to me for basic cell service. Although I had an additional line added for my parents, which upped the charges.

After my contract was up, I looked into prepaid options. The best deal seems to be Net10-No roaming, 10 cents a minute always, free activation/minutes, and cheap phones.

And I mean cheap. This phone I picked up for $30(free because you get a 300 minute airtime card included) does NOTHING. No web, bad poly ringtones and is absolutely bare bones. What's good about it? It works.

One month and counting. It's a fine service. I think I'll keep it until next year sometime, then look into phones with good data plans/internet access.

Harper's Island

No spoilers. Basically Harper's Island is a CBS murder mystery mini-series. 13 episodes taking place during a wedding on Harper's Island, near Seattle. The cast seems to be relatively unknowns. You're favorite character may or may not survive.

I don't remember where I was when this aired. Because I never even heard of it until recently. After watching all episodes, I'm satisfied with the outcome. It has a pretty good setting, fun cast, and keeps you guessing until the end.

There was a few knocks, but nothing too bad. The kid was just annoying and a lot of these murders were too convenient. Gotta have suspension of disbelief with this show.

It's worth checking out. Not something I would own, at least not at full price. The show was perfect for Netflix Instant viewing, which is where I watched it.

Xbox 360 returns

My xbox 360 is back from the repair center! It was here Friday, but UPS couldn't get in my secure building. They replaced my '06 model with a 09 model. It's quieter, but otherwise the same. I was hoping for an HDMI model.

Looking through my games, they got pretty old fast. UFC, Fable II and Ghostbusters are the newest. I will probably see what I can trade towards. My short list of games I'm looking forward to...

Borderlands
Forza 3
NBA Live or 2K10
Modern Warfare 2

Probably some other stuff. Anyway, it's good to have it back. I missed watching Netflix movies and tv series on my TV.

The Cleveland Show

At the time it was announced, I thought it was a terrible idea. Now, I'm reassured.

I like Cleveland. But not enough to watch an entire series based on him. It's an even harder sell because I have not liked a lot of Family Guy in recent years. I just preferred the early seasons, when the family actually did things together.

Believe me, I've accepted Family Guy for what it is-random nonsense, no plot, cutaway gags. I can still laugh at that. But this Cleveland Show ain't working. They changed Cleveland Jr, and not for the better. He was likable.

The actual show has more heart than Family Guy, with a plot to follow. Which is in some ways better, but it's still a show based on Cleveland Brown. The kid, Rallo has had a few good moments. "I know ya'll aint leaving without making these beds"

The rest of the cast I am still figuring out, redneck, talking bear, teen daughter, etc. And maybe I'm being too critical this early on. But I'll give it a few more chances, my expectations are pretty low.

That will be on Hulu though, Sunday nights are all about Amazing Race.

Bai Ling: Hot but unnecessary

I'm not a fan. She is hot, and is very recognizable but I never like her characters. Bai Ling ruined and episode of LOST and Entourage. Her role in Crank 2 came pretty close to hurting the movie. I would mention Southland Tales but that sucked for numerous other reasons.

And I don't hate her. I just don't want her in speaking roles.

NFL Opening Weekend

Go Seahawks! Seriously. Last season was tough to watch. This season they added Aaron Curry for defense, interim coach Jim Mora and signed TJ Houshmandzadeh. I'm looking forward to this year. They got some work to do.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Madballs

I loved this show! Actually I don't remember anything about it, other than I wanted every toy they put out. I had the Baseball and Horned toys at one point. Like many toys, I imagine I lost them or they were thrown out by my parents.

I only remember this show because I noticed the new Madballs game on xbox Live. 800 Microsoft points and the demo has been out for awhile. It's kind of fun but I would rather put my phony points towards Shadow Complex or something.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Inspector Gadget

Short entry, busy day! But this is an early favorite of mine. Great intro, fun cartoon. It might even be on netflix instant viewing, I might check it out again.

As for the movies, I haven't seen them. But they probably suck.

Michael Jackson finally laid to rest

Rest in peace MJ.

One of the greats, I enjoyed his music. Just posting some final thoughts on the King of Pop. It's been in the media forever and talked about ad nauseum.

Trying to remember my first Michael Jackson memory, I think as a kid it had to be the Beat It music video. Not even sure where music vids were shown back then! I aint that old...but still.

As a kid I just remember trying to imitate his dance moves, watching his creative music vids and enjoying the music. A rare artist that most of my family could all listen to at once.

He put out a lot of hits in the 80s. Of course he had his Jackson 5 career too, which I had not known as a kid. I think I liked J5 more as an adult, my favorite would probably be ABC.

The 90s had some good tracks too. His music video for Jam with Michael Jordan was awesome. So was Remember The Time with Eddie Murphy and Magic Johnson. And how about the most expensive music vid ever-Scream with Janet Jackson.

The Girl is Mine with Paul McCartney and his Invincible album were not his best work but they were still a fun guilty pleasure for me. And to be honest, he did do some crazy shit. I never look past that for a second but the guy is dead. I have no reason to speak ill of him.

Jackson was truly timeless. One time during my maritime training days around 3 years ago, I purchased his 2 disc essential album. (this was pre ipod for me) One of my classmates noticed I had the cds and asked to borrow it-so he could burn it to his computer. I had no problem loaning it out.

Those cds were gone for at least a week. I mean, when I went to pick them back up he loaned it to someone else, and they loaned it to someone else. Those cds were passed around, turns out a lot of people were MJ fans. People of all backgrounds too, Hawaiian, Caucasian, African American. True story!

Anyway, that's all I can say. Jackson will be remembered.

RIP my xbox 360 disk drive

It's not working. Not red ring, it just wont read ANY of my games, dvds, or cds. It was working the other day, I had just finished Fable II.

A year out of warranty, and everything else works fine. (netflix, arcade, navigating menus) Though I kind of wish I had red ring, that could be fixed for no charge. This repair should cost around $100.

At that price, I almost want to just save towards a new model. An Elite or 60 gig. My current model is only a 20 gig and has not filled up yet. Either way will be expensive.

I still have the PS3 to rely on, but my game library is lacking compared to my 360.

Tyson (2008)

Old too soon, smart too late.-Mike Tyson

I don't know who the original quote is from, but is very true. This documentary came out on dvd recently, it's a great look into the rise and fall of the once-great Mike Tyson.

Without spoiling anything, I can say Tyson answers all questions you would want to know about. Whether it's his young career, rape conviction, divorces, losses or even catching an STD before a fight, it's all here.

Even a non boxing fan can find interest. Director James Toback did not sugar coat anything, he let Tyson speak freely and allow the viewer to decide. I think many will be surprised at the honesty of Tyson, that he is a flawed family man who loves his children.

You will also get your dose of madness. The tattoos. The ear biting. The pre-fight fights. His infamous quotes-"I want to eat his children. Praise be to Allah!" "I'll fuck you 'til you love me, faggot!"

Worth renting for non-boxing fans, worth owning for fight fans. Check it out 4/5.

"My past is now history, my future is a mystery" -Mike Tyson

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Ducktales

Actually this was more of an afternoon show. Still one of the best Disney cartoons that I enjoyed watching. It still holds up today, mostly for nostalgia. Can't say that for stuff like He-Man. (which I loved as a kid, collected the toys and everything)

My favorite thing about Ducktales was how they kept you interested and changed locations. I mean, they went to space, the dinosaur age, castles, jungles, and Aztec ruins, wherever etc.

Kept a fresh cast too, good friends and villains. Great stuff. The series is all on dvd now, I wouldn't mind adding it to my collection...someday.

Veronica Mars Season Two

Veronica Mars. Pretty popular show, apparently not in the ratings. Yet so few have bad things to say about the show. Praised by fans and critics, and much deserved. It's good.

I remember not watching when it was on tv, just one of those things. Once you miss a few episodes, it's hard to stick around. I planned on catching up through dvd seasons, but it was already gone before I got around to picking them up. (at least you can find them pretty cheap most places)

Season 2 had better guest stars, like Kevin Smith and Charisma Carpenter. (no Paris Hilton thankfully) Favorite episode-probably "One Angry Veronica"

Dislikes-The dialogue at times. Some odd casting for high school students, very unconvincing, stories we don't care about and Veronica's love life. She can do better than Duncan and Logan.

It's worth renting, maybe buying. One set back is re-watchability, once everything gets solved you are pretty much done. It is cool to see where Kristen Bell got her start, she's great.

The last season is still on my shelf, should be watching later.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Bobby's World

Back before Cartoon Network, you had to wait until Saturday to catch your favorite cartoons growing up. Hopefully every Saturday I'll post an entry of something I remember.

Bobby's World on Fox. It's kind of a random memory that came up. I don't remember all the character names, but I did remember their faces. Hard to believe it ran from 90 to 98, if the wiki was right.

Howie Mandel doing the voice, who also hosts one of my favorite game shows-Deal or No Deal. Very creative, a lot of funny episodes. That voice is stuck in my head. It was one of the rare shows my mom could also watch.

Under water the fish still don't stink.

Rumble Old Man Rumble

Roy Jones Jr is back! At least he looked to have turned back the clock a bit.

Finally caught a replay of the fight. Certainly wasn't about to pay for that one, plus I think it was the same weekend as Gina Carano.

One of the worst beatdowns with a knockdown I've ever seen. Roy made Lacy look bad. Talking with the crowd, mugging for the camera, dancing, pretty much all the stuff he did in his prime.

Was Roy that good or Lacy that bad? I mean Lacy has not been a great fighter for the most of his career but he had youth on his side. But he didn't even seem to hurt Roy. Not even a little bit! I think retirement is in order. Otherwise he will live out the rest of his career on fighting bum status.

Great fight for Roy. Still doin' it.

My Brute

http://lucharan.mybrute.com

This game is crap. I know it's random and all in fun but it's still crap.

Wouldn't be so bad if my brute did not seem to rely on the worst weapons ever and have no strategy at all, but give me a break. People throw bombs and I retaliate with a butter knife. And if they have an animal above dog-it's already over.

I refuse to make 2 dozen brutes for stats and pupils, fuck that. Sure that may bring a better random weapon but I don't have the fucking time.

Though I do have 94 wins, I play more out of habit than enjoyment.

500 Street Fighter IV Matches

The main reason I picked this up was because I needed to get rid of my PSP, which I stopped playing. (bad game library, cool portable)

So I traded it to Gamestop for some credit. That got me around $180 with games and an extra 15% deal. I had no intention of buying Street Fighter IV that day, but noticed there was one MadCatz Fightpad left. At the time they were sold out everywhere, and with a line building behind me, I had to get it.

It was the Ryu version, though I would prefer Ken. Of course with the controller purchased I also got the game, which came out a few months before but I had passed on. But with the 6 button contoller, I figured I had no reason not to play. (360 controller sucks for fighting games)

Now I had not played Street Fighter since II, and that was the arcade or SNES. I skipped Third Strike and whatever else came out. But IV was very playable, even for one who had not thrown a dragon uppercut in YEARS.

You can get by on II moves and strategy, but the Ultra and Super Combos, Focus Attacks and new special moves need to be learned for serious play. And I'm average at best, but have figured out enough to enjoy.

Everything else is great, graphics, sound, re-playability, online and fun. The balance is fine, at least I think it is. Just using Ken does not equal victory.

Anyway, 500 matches. Lost more than I won but still continue playing. (which is rare for me, I usually hate a game that kicks my ass this much)

How I Met Your Mother Season Three

"It's like friends"

I disagree. Okay, there are some similarities.(white New Yorkers, sitcom romance) But I can actually watch and enjoy this show. It's not too sitcom-y, and not too that annoying. Though Lily has a few moments.

One of my favorite blind buys based on recommendations from friends. (this and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) It's another show with a late 20s cast, that seems to get it right.

Great casting, funny and has a good sense of friendship. Season three might be my least favorite but not by much. The celeb cameos have always been good, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias, Wayne Brady etc, and they dont stay around too long to break the chemistry.

Except Sarah Chalke as Stella, which is okay because I love her. But I can see why some HIMYM fans aren't fond. Ted is better off dating around. That is the premise of the show-How I met your mother. But that premise is just moving around season to season, they are saving the reveal for the final episodes.

Until then it's just a bunch of random encounters, romance and friendship. Very funny. Almost legen..wait for it....

-dary.

Weeds Season One

Very interesting premise, and characters. But it did take a few episodes to get hooked, I came very close to passing on it.

But thanks to Netflix streaming I kept watching. The only actor I knew of was Kevin Nealon, and he is great! The rest of the cast grew on me, most of them at least. I especially liked Nancy, Sanjay, Conrad and uncle Andy. (though he is always fucking up)

Smart, funny and well directed. I can see why people dig it. Always found myself wanting to watch another episode to see what would happen next. I don't have a favorite episode, they all kind of went together. (if that makes sense)

Dislikes-Probably the kids. It's just a little thing that bothered me, they seem to do whatever they want. Of course there is a reason but still.

Looks like it made it to season 5, that's something to look forward to.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

"Green Man is totally saving your life right now, bro.
"

You have to see it to get that reference.

This has to be one of the funniest shows I ever blind bought.(thanks to a $14 sale per season) It has been described as Seinfeld on crack, and I agree to an extent. The characters are looking out for themselves, and they both win and lose on their schemes.

I like how the show can take on things from race relations, abortion, drugs, and family in humorous way. (that sounds disturbing but trust me) My favorite episode would probably be when they had to coach a youth basketball team for community service.

Plus it benefits from being on FX where they can talk like regular people and say "Fuck". Not that I need swearing to enjoy a show but it feels less sitcom-y. I also like that the show has a cast in my general age range, good to see these days.

Looking forward to season 4 on dvd, and watching season 5 on TV. Check it out via Hulu or pick the seasons up on Amazon.

Pizza Receipt

I ordered a pizza for dinner with a credit card online. Which is usually no hassle.

Anyway, today must have been super busy because it came late. (over 30 minutes) As I pulled out my Wells Fargo card, the driver told me he forgot the receipt/signature slip. (which is kind of lame to still have to sign for these things when you already ordered online)

He gave me the pizza and told me he would call when he comes back for my signature. That was hours ago. Now, I'm about to go to bed. Though I wonder how can they charge me for pizza I never signed for. Or since it came so late, could they have just been nice and let my have it for free?

Maybe the pizza guy was fired. I don't know, seems weird.

Friday Night Lights: Season One

22 episodes. Most are pretty good.

Just finished up the first season, thanks to Netflix streaming on Xbox 360. Gotta say I was hooked on some days, I mean a LOT goes down. Spaced them out over a month or so.

Being a football fan, I was already drawn to the premise. But I think it has enough to catch a casual fan. If anything, my main problem was the filler side stories I had no interest in. (Tyra's mom, Smash's gf, and often they stretch out dialogue.)

But the football is good, as is the cast. I thought Landry (Jesse Plemons) was great in his smaller role. One character I did a 180 on was Lyla Garrity. She slowy got worse and worse towards the end.

I will be checking out next season on Netflix at a later date, though I have heard the quality drops.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

Photobucket

Finally. It should have came out a month ago. Well, years ago.

My first thoughts are-Wow, I suck. After months of playing SFIV, MvC2 does feel dated. The graphics are cleaned up, and I wouldnt call it bad looking at all. $15 is a big price to pay but that sure beats the super-high ebay prices.

The last time I played was way back in high school, in the Cougar Den Arcade. Playing at home isn't quite the same; they changed to a 4 button layout with some modifications for the regular 360 controller. But I already have a FightPad so I would have been fine with the traditional style.

It's more of a nostalgic pick up. A lot of crazy offense, and a TON of characters. Even Mega Man and Gambit.

1st Entry

Yes, this ridiculous blogname came from an classic Wu Tang track.
